Description:

This weekend will educate, inspire and uplift you as we explore the possibilities around new motherhood: two births are happening, the baby’s and the mom’s, and as yoga teachers we can empower women to participate fully in the birth of their own new Self.

From core-strengthening to meditation amidst chaos, we cover a lot of ground. Whether you want to teach new moms or you are one, it will shift how you approach this special (and exhausting) time.moms-in-down-dog-and-2-babies-linda-2

This 12-hour training (Saturday and Sunday) will help you feel more calm and confident when teaching new moms with babies as well as kids yoga. We cover a lot of ground in the weekend:

-how to pare down yoga practices to their most effective, efficient essence for busy moms

-how to create an evolutionary community in which all members are committed to their own development, and supporting each others’ greatness

-how to help moms tone their abs again without hurting their back

-sequences of poses

-13 super fun sequences for preschool kids moms can do while holding baby and/or while baby is watching

-self-care practices for post-partum recovery

-how to offer new moms more than a physical practice by weaving teachings about motherhood you can take home and use, as well as tips, games, and songs!

You will also go home with more than ten Preschool Yoga sequences, so you are ready to teach yoga to toddlers whenever the opportunity arises.

This training can be taken individually as a workshop, or as partial requirement for Ma Yoga/Yoga Alliance Prenatal Certification.

Instructor Bio:

As a professional dancer, I was first drawn to Yoga as a reliable method for physical therapy that I could practice on my own. Eventually, Yoga became so much more - I was hooked to its alignment principles, philosophy, mindfulness, and meditation. I also found a community of people on a similar path to personal growth. I made teaching Yoga my path in life, after experiencing the healing power of this practice, during a particularly traumatic event. I have never looked back. It is the greatest gift to share this practice with students and new teachers.
I spent 8 years diving deeply into the teachings of Anusara yoga. I did my first 200-hour teacher training with Tony Guiliano, Kenny Graham, Tara Judelle, and Mark Holzman. I have completed teacher training intensives with Christina Sell and Noah Maze. My prenatal training is with Jessica Jennings and Ma Yoga (85 hours). I completed my 500-hour advanced teacher training with Noah Maze (Yogamaze). I am skilled in pose mechanics, therapeutics, meditation, labor skills, and have trained as a birth doula with Ana Paula Markel.

Description:

Chiropractors, massage therapists, other yoga teachers… all can be super helpful and necessary at times, but why not empower yourself with the basic anatomy, biomechanics, and even energetic pathways of your body, so that you can move yourself in the direction of healing?

In this powerful, information-filled weekend you will receive principles to practice, teach, and even live by. These principles help maintain strength in your core and your joints, freedom in your physical and energetic body, and a feeling of being supported throughout the cycles and phases of a woman’s life.

We will address basic yoga poses and how to use them to help your students who get pain in them, particularly chatturanga, downward dog, and backbends. As a teacher, you will be able to give simple instructions to your students – pregnant or not – to help them feel better in a pose and use it as an opportunity to create both strength and ease. Through these principles, you will understand how to help you and your students maintain stability by moving toward the natural structure of our skeleton and muscles.

Bring your aches and pains! They are often our greatest gurus, so we can learn to help others heal from them. These principles are particularly useful for common pregnancy discomforts, but help reduce pain for all bodies, all the time.

If you haven’t gotten this yet, this workshop is not rainbows and woo woo! It’s what we believe is essential information for any yoga teacher interested in helping their students find “their pose” in any pose.

Description:

The Yoga of Pregnancy Workshop and Teacher Training Weekend is for yoga students and teachers, birth practitioners, moms-to-be and anyone else who wants to delve deep into how yoga can help women access their greatest power, wisdom, and love during the transformative journey to motherhood and beyond.

The weekend is packed with super fun, strengthening, inspiring practices to support us in the dance of co-creation, whether we’re pregnant with baby or ideas; therapeutic alignment and sequences to address specific physiological and psychological changes for each trimester; and insights you can use to help yourself or claim the wisdom, power and love of the Divine feminine within.

Learning to step into the co-creative flow of the divine feminine will help you approach EVERY creative endeavor in your life in a new way. You will learn to delight in co-creating, and deepen your understanding of how this can help you support any mom-to-be.

No interest in teaching prenatal is necessary – just curiosity about how the body changes throughout the process, and prenatal teacher training training in how we can shift our thinking so these changes help us sit deeper in the freedom and grace of the heart space. Many women have taken it simply to expand their knowledge, face issues around pregnancy, labor, and motherhood, and support their clients with new tools.

If you do choose to take it as a teacher training, you will learn that pregnancy can be a doorway for so many of your students to reach their highest Self, and help in guiding them through the threshold. You will receive a certificate at the end reflecting the 14 hours you completed. You will also be part of our private Facebook Ma Yoga community, where you can always ask questions and receive support along your path.

Restorative Yoga Teacher Training Coming to TYM in September!

When: September 18th thru September 20th

Where: The Yoga Mat in Anaheim

Tuition: $400 Early Bird rate good through August 18th, $450 after

Register: Click!

Description: Restorative Yoga is a healing practice that brings the body, mind, and nervous system into balance. Learn to teach Restorative Yoga, guided by Samantha Lawrence (E-RYT 500), founder of TheraYoga. Sam is passionate about the immensely powerful practice of Restorative Yoga, since it has been a major part of her own journey to health.

Level 1 of this training covers the main poses of Restorative Yoga, how to adapt them for a variety of students, how to use props, how to design a satisfying class, and more. Special attention is given to therapeutic applications of Restorative Yoga, and how the practice can benefit people with special needs, or simply relieve stress. The training also includes discussion of the three Ayurvedic Doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha) and how to build a Restorative and breath practice to best suit the needs of all three. You will also learn the basics of a mindful awareness practice to aid those with anxiety and trauma disorders, helping to keep students feeling more grounded, clear and balanced during their experience of Restorative Yoga and beyond.

These trainings are designed to prepare current yoga teachers to teach Restorative classes in studios and other environments. These weekends are also open to students simply wanting to deepen their knowledge, and for those in allied professions (massage therapists, those in the mental health care field, etc.) as a vital part of their practice with clients.

About the Instructor: Samantha (Sam) Lawrence, E-RYT-500, found yoga in 1999, when she decided to try a class to see if could help with her Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia. Her practice began with Restorative Yoga & Yoga Nidra, which brought such incredible healing, that she knew this had to be shared with anyone who would listen.

Sam has been practicing and teaching now for over 13 years. She has an extensive background in structural anatomy and is a certified Massage Therapist, as well as a certified Hatha Yoga and Kids Yoga Teacher. She has a passion for sharing yoga and bodywork with students and combines a caring, loving, and joyful practice with emphasis upon the mind/body connection and the science behind yoga.

“There is this current misconception that you have to be ‘bendy’ to practice yoga. I would like to show students that we can ALL practice. We just need to get back to the foundation, the idea of a one-on-one practice. This is what TheraYoga aims to do, even in a class setting. If you can breathe, you can do yoga!” Sam’s TheraYoga classes combine classic Hatha Yoga with therapeutic techniques for a balanced, well rounded experience. She has trained under Kelly Wood at Karuna Yoga, Gurmukh Khalsa, Russ Pfeiffer, Elyse Briggs, Carl Dawson, and Leeann Carey Yoga. Samantha is currently studying mindfulness and its effectiveness in working with psychological attachment patterns with George Haas at Against the Stream. She is a part of his Meaningful Life program through July 2015. She is weaving the practice of insight and metta into her classes, as well as her work with those in recovery from trauma and significant stress. She recently completed her certification in Community Trauma Resiliency, through the Trauma Resource Institute.
